What is personal data?

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) defines personal data in Art.4 (1) as any information which are related to an identified or identifiable natural person. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information possessed by the data controller.

Your personal data will be stored and handled in accordance with legal requirements and ethical responsibilities set by GDPR and Acupuncture Regulatory Body: ANP - Association of Naturopathic Practitioners and BAF – British Acupuncture Federation.

What information is hold and how it is stored

  • Full name, date of birth, address telephone number and email address

  • The presenting complaint and symptoms reported by the client

  • Relevant medical and family history, including GP’s name and address

  • Clinical findings

  • Treatment given and details of progress including reviews of treatment planning

  • Information and advice given to the client

  • Decision made in conjunction with the client

  • Client’s consent to treatment or consent of their next of kin

It is client’s responsibility to ensure that any email send to us is within the bounds of the law as we are unable to send or receive encrypted emails so you should be aware that any emails we send or receive may not be protected in transit.

Under the legal requirements and in line with the Code of Conduct set by Acupuncture Regulatory Body, client’s records will be kept for 7 years. To provide client with the best possible treatment access to information above is needed. Under the GDPR obligations your personal data will be stored and destroyed securely, protected from loss, misuse and unauthorised access and disclosure.

Under GDPR client has following rights:
